Most traditional SRI (Socially Responsible Investment) and ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) funds create their portfolios by selecting companies that are relatively more responsible as compared to their peers. This means they sometimes invest in companies that aren’t truly socially responsible (but they are not bad relative to their peers), but more often than not they end up owning companies are not offensive to SRI values, but at the same time are not proactively making positive changes.
We believe that where investment dollars go can and does make a difference, and that we should allocate our resources to companies that are changing the world for the better.
There is no room, in the modern age, to have a relativistic view on social or environmental concerns; supporting positive change is important work.
